Community Engagement

This is no ordinary tour.  In each location a new partnership between a theatre, local military base, The Army, Army Welfare Services and the company make this a unique package.  This style of intensive tour model comprises of two months of community outreach work in each location, leading to a weekend of events, community performances, outdoor performances, professional shows and post show talks.  The intention is to engage with local venues to develop a relationship between the military bases and the local arts community, which takes on a different shape in each location, creating unique programmes that wraparound the professional shows.

5 SOLDIERS received a Special Commendation from the Royal Society of Public Health in recognition of its excellent contribution to Arts and health practice.

Community Engagement work is led by Community Engagement Manager Vanessa Oxspring ( and delivered locally through project partners working with a locally recruited professional Dance Artist.
